Tonight begins the most joyful Jewish holiday – Purim. A pleasant surprise awaited those who received our lunches. For lunch, We’ve added traditional Purim humentashi and food sets as part of the annual initiative “Mitzvah4Purim”.

“SOS Summer Relif -2021” (WJR)

Indian summer is already autumn; but it is still summer weather. During these warm, and sometimes even hot, days due to the support of World Jewish Relief, we distributed the fans among the needy residents of Kyiv, Chernihiv, Myrhorod, Bila Tserkva, and Slavuta and congratulated them with High Holidays.
Lilia, 86 “I have been dreaming about this for the last year. I can’t put the air conditioner – it’s very expensive, and the old fan has broken. Thank you, thank you for your help. Now, on hot days, I will no longer feel so tired. It is the best Rosh-ha-Shana gift I could have dreamed about”

Manna4Pesach-2020

Today, April the 7th, we are waiting for Pesach. Today is the 22nd day of compelled quarantine, but we remember that there are many people around us who need our support. Starting with the first days of quarantine, volunteers and employees of the All-Ukrainian Charitable Fund “2U” began to deliver food sets to the most impoverished people. When it became clear that the quarantine would be continued, we began to deliver Matza as well. Those who did not receive Matza before got it in addition.
Lyudmila (67 years old): “I couldn’t dreamt I would be able to celebrate Pesach at home in these stormy times. The Synagogue is far away, and it is difficult for me to reach it by myself. Anyhow, it is closed. Thank you, thank you very much, for the opportunity to celebrate Pesach”.
Sophia (83 years old): “When your volunteers visited me on Purim, I was happy. Then quarantine had started and I began to think that I wouldn’t be able to taste Matza for Pesach for the first time for many years. When representatives of ACF “2U” called me and told that there are volunteers who are eager to bring Matza to me I understood: Pesach is a holiday that couldn’t be canceled under any circumstances, epidemics, and pandemics.”
ACF “2U”, J-UP and Kyiv City Jewish Community are happy to give the possibility to many Jews all over Ukraine to celebrate Pesach according to the Tradition. We send our best wishes and congratulate everyone with the coming Pesach.

Exhibition “History through Faces” in the premise of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

On the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the exposition “History through Faces” has been opened at Ukrainian Parliament.
Declaring January 27 International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the UN General Assembly called on member states to develop educational programs to preserve the memory of this tragedy for future generations in order to prevent future acts of genocide and to protect, as historical monuments, places where mass killings of Jews took place. In accordance with the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of July 5, 2011 № 3560-VI “On the 70th Anniversary of the Tragedy of Babyn Yar” at the state level, Ukraine commemorated the International Holocaust Remembrance Day in 2012 for the first time.
The project “History through Faces” was initiated by the All-Ukrainian Charitable Fund “To You” (ACF 2U). The aim of the project is to preserve the memory of the feat performed during WW II by people who are called Righteous.
Unfortunately, the stories of the rescue of Jews in the former Soviet Union during the war began to be collected by various foundations and institutions many years after its end. The exhibition “History through Faces ” tells about the feat of these people to preserve the memory.
People’s Deputies of Ukraine Oleh Seminsky and Mykola Knyazhytskyi spoke about the importance of the project in their speeches at the opening of the event.
The audience observed a minute of silence in memory of the Holocaust victims.
According to the Yad Vashem Catastrophe and Heroism Institute, Israel, as of January 1, 2020, there were 2,659 Righteous Among the Nations from Ukraine. Thus, Ukraine ranks fourth in the world in the number of Righteous Among the Nations. This is only the official data, and how many stories we do not know and will never know, – said in her speech ACF 2U Board Chair Julia Goldenberg.
The event was attended by Victoria Godik, Co-Chair of the Diplomatic Corps Committee of the World Jewish Congress.

Hot meals December 2020

Chanukah miracles happen. It is always a pleasure to share good news. Starting from today, 25 impoverished residents of the Syrets in Kyiv will receive hot lunches every week, delivered to their homes by ACF 2U volunteers. We would like to thank the Christians for Israel Charitable Fund for their ongoing support that gives us the possibility to care about those who live next to us and who need support in this difficult time. It is great this event coincided with the days when Hanukkah is celebrated, the days of miracles and lights.

“Hope for Hanukkah”(“Hope4Hanukkah” 2019)

During the last week of 2019, those were the days of Hanukkah last year, a Charity Campaign «Hope4Hanukkah» took place. This initiative was launched eight years ago by Julia Goldenberg, Chairman of the Board of the All-Ukrainian Charitable Fund “To You” (ACF 2U), and Victoria Godik, Co-Chair of the Committee of the Diplomatic Corps of the World Jewish Congress.
In Kyiv and Cherkasy, Myrhorod and Bila Tserkva, Hanukkah lights brightened hundreds of homes due to the efforts of dozens of our volunteers of all ages who traditionally responded to our offer to greet the most needy and lonely representatives of the Jewish community and congratulate them with the holiday. Thus, for example, one of our volunteers, Aliona, visited elderly people with her daughter, who was younger than one year old, in another case sister invited her brother to visit and congratulate people together. These visits showed that it doesn’t matter how old you are, how busy you are, there is always a minute to pay attention to those who require attention and friendly company. Rosh-ha-Shana-2020

Jewish year 5781 has begun. And this means not only the beginning of High Holidays, but also the next annual event, which is held by ACF 2U together with J-UP Network (an independent initiative of active young professionals). During two weeks, volunteers are visiting several hundreds of the most needy families in Kyiv, Kyiv & Khmelnitskyy Oblast’s, spend time with them, and bring them so needed food sets. In the beginning of September, we were contacted by many people who wanted to help with this initiative. It is inspiring that new volunteers have joined us this year. It’s only the first week of the project, and we’ve already received dozens of calls of thanks.
Of course, we did not stay aside, and also visited our wonderful clients, who have become our friends over the years, and even helped with household.

Assistance to the Righteous to the 76th anniversary of the liberation of Ukraine from Nazi invaders

Today, October 28th , Ukraine commemorates the 76th anniversary of Ukraine’s liberation from Nazi. Righteous have firsthand knowledge of horrors of war. This day is a very special for them. We are proud we have the opportunity to support them, help with repairs, medicines, food packages, medical consultations, psychological support, etc. We would also like to thank our reliable partner Ukrposhta for delivering our parcels to the homes of these heroic people in a timely and high-quality manner. In addition, 3 Righteous, who have celebrated birthday this month, received wonderful warm blankets, thanks to the ongoing support of WJR.
